I teach self hypnosis with most of the clients that I see. I think it is an extremely important part of what you do when I am not around. You may be wondering what does this have to do with a sidewalk and a hole?

Successful self-hypnosis is very much alike planting seeds. You decide what you would like to grow, you plant the seeds by imagining and feeling what it will be like when you have reached your goal. You don’t have to concern yourself with how the plant is going to grow – it has all the intelligence to fulfill its purpose. But something you will need to do is pull out the weeds if you notice any. When you plant seeds with a positive outcome in your subconscious mind, any doubts, fears, anxieties, conflicting beliefs etc. are the weeds we need to get rid of.

If you believe that it is impossible for you to reach your goal, and you are curious about self hypnosis, forget about trying it – it’s not going to work. #1 rule in hypnosis is you have to want to make a change more than anything. I cant do that for you. It must come from within you.

A goal should always be short, positive and achievable. Here are some examples of good suggestions to use: It is OK for me to leave food on my plate. Water is my drink of choice. I can do this, nothing to it.  I am calm and relaxed.

Short phrases that mean something to you, easy to remember and always positively framed.

I love this poem by Portia Nelson, it says it all; a wonderful metaphor of life. To see our habits as our own is the realization we need to make a change, to find another way.

Chapter I

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I fall in.
I am lost … I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter II

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter III

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in … it’s a habit … but,
my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

Chapter IV

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter V

I walk down another street.

The bottom line: Hypnosis works! Isn’t it time that you started to find out more information about how you can use it to improve your own life? You owe it to yourself!
